THE LONDON STOCK EXCHANGE
Did you know ?
The London Stock Exchange (in English, London Stock Exchange and abbreviated as LSE) is a stock market located in London. He is one of the most
major stock markets on the planet, offering the securities of several American and British companies. Its parent company is there
listed, even included in the FTSE 250 index.
Its headquarters are between Newgate Street and Paternoster Square a stone's throw from St Paul's Cathedral and the current High Court
criminal of the Old Bailey. The current leader of the LSE is Xavier Rolet.
Founded in 1776 in its present form, it builds on traditions born during Britain's financial revolution, when John
Castaing, working from offices in Jonathan's Coffee-House, published a price list called The Course of the Exchange and other
things (which can be translated as "The course of trade and other things").
The London Stock Exchange experienced an expansion in the 1840s, which saw England alone acquire half of the 9,500
kilometers of European rail in 1845, during the "railway mania" episode.
